Oman Urges Diplomatic Talks Amid US-Israeli Strikes on Iran

(MENAFN) Oman’s Foreign Minister Badr bin Hamad al-Busaidi emphasized on Sunday that “the door to diplomacy is still open” despite the continued US and Israeli military operations against Iran, calling for renewed negotiations and cautioning against losing hope for peace.

"I want to be very clear - the door to diplomacy remains open. Talks in Geneva made genuine progress towards an unprecedented agreement between Iran and the United States,” al-Busaidi stated on the social media platform X.

He underscored that ongoing hostilities should not extinguish prospects for dialogue, adding, "War should not mean that the hope of peace is extinguished. I still believe in the power of diplomacy to resolve this conflict. The sooner talks are resumed, the better it is for everyone."

The joint US-Israeli strikes began early Saturday, occurring while indirect negotiations between Tehran and Washington were in progress. Oman has been acting as a mediator in these talks, which mirrors a previous pattern: Israel and the US carried out similar strikes in June 2025 during another round of Oman-mediated discussions.
